Board of Directors
Nicole DiPaolo
Nicole pours nearly all her time and energy into rescuing stray satos (Spanish for dogs) and gatos (Spanish for cats), but her love for animals extends far beyond that. She tirelessly works to save animals from overcrowded shelters in Massachusetts and nearby states, focusing on those facing euthanasia. Her compassion is boundless, and she never hesitates to open her heart and home to an animal in need.
Even with the immense demands of her rescue work, Nicole finds the strength to serve as a Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator in Massachusetts and maintain her role as a Project Manager at Verizon. Her dedication to both her work and the animals she loves is truly inspiring.
Meryl Alexander
As a leading "matchmaker" with Paws4Survival, Meryl plays a crucial role in ensuring that rescue dogs are matched with the most suitable and caring homes. Her thorough and conscientious approach to reviewing adoption applications reflects her deep commitment to the welfare of the animals. Meryl also works part-time as a bookkeeper and assistant at an accounting firm, where her precision and dedication are highly regarded. Outside of her professional endeavors, she and her husband, Steve, devote quality time to their beloved rescue dog, Paisley. Meryl enjoys walking, exercising, and visiting Chicago to spend time with her nephews. Additionally, she and Steve share a passion for discovering new restaurants, adding to the enjoyment and fulfillment of their personal lives.
Madelynne Dorsey
Maddie is an incredibly hardworking and dedicated volunteer who joined us in 2023 after visiting our shelter. She immediately became a volunteer and foster & without hesitation or direction, began identifying areas where we could improve. Her initiative and commitment are exemplified by projects like this website, which she spearheaded. Maddie tirelessly ensures that all our cats are well cared for and prepared to find their perfect forever homes. When she's not volunteering, you’ll likely find her tending to her garden or working her full time job as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
Maddie’s passion for the safety and well-being of animals is unwavering. She currently cares for three cats of her own—Stella, Maisy, and Bobbie—Bobbie being her first "foster fail." Maddie is incredibly caring and loving, always ready to step up and do whatever it takes to help any animal in need.
Marcelino Cruz
Marcelino is the driving force behind Paws4Survival. After a visit to his hometown with his wife, he encouraged her to initiate the process of creating a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting dogs and cats in their community. His dedication is evident through his countless hours of volunteer work, including building our facility, transporting animals from locations such as Miami, Myrtle Beach, and Newark during the pandemic, and graciously accommodating an unlimited number of foster animals without complaint.
In addition to his contributions to Paws4Survival, Marcelino is employed by Anderson Windows and holds a 5th-degree black belt in several martial arts disciplines, including Taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu.
Dr. Rebecca Lussier
Dr. Rebecca Lussier has been an integral part of our rescue organization since its inception nine years ago. As Medical Director, she has provided exceptional care to thousands of our animals, consistently ensuring they receive the highest standard of veterinary attention. Additionally, she has managed veterinary care at 4-5 Petsmart locations over several years, which was a significant commitment in itself.
Dr. Lussier is the proud mother of Ava, a Paws4Survival alumni dog, as well as a calico cat and a cherished ferret. She is also a licensed wildlife rehabilitator in Massachusetts and enjoys traveling whenever her schedule allows.
Arelis DeLeon
Arelis serves as our primary contact in Puerto Rico and recently founded her own non-profit organization, Restore A Pet's Heart. In her role, she manages the care of all our dogs and cats, ensuring they receive proper veterinary attention and overseeing their transportation to the Northeast.
Arelis is also a dedicated mother of three, who actively assist with the animals. She is employed at Save A Sato, our sister shelter, and enjoys going to the gym and spending quality time with her family during her free moments.
